Daily Meditation Creates A New “Me” – Year 1
As I carefully examine my progress over the past year, the impact of daily meditation is profound. Its influence has seeped into every corner of my life.

The tarot reading truly amazed me. I can’t reconcile the sheer coincidence of the tarot reading with our conversations that evening. Nor can I wrap my head around how closely these cards in this specific order resembled the current state of my sobriety journey as I see it.
In many of us, there is a hole and we try to fill that hole with alcohol and drugs. But the irony is that these chemicals don’t fill the hole. They simply lay a temporary blanket of fog over the hole. With the hole now hidden from view, our vices dig it ever deeper and wider. The result is often what becomes a seemingly impossible hole to fill.
What these meditation experiences have impressed upon me is the power of the mind to heal itself through its ability to create powerful visualizations. Through these we are able to make peace with all kinds of things we didn’t even realize we were still dealing with.
But, thankfully, I made it through in one piece and found that Dry January, like Sober October, and Dry July have much to teach us. And this would hold true for any dry month you might choose to pursue. It’s important to point out, that if you need an excuse to dry out and give your brain and liver a break, there’s no need to wait for a designated ‘dry’ month!
