Daily Meditation Creates A New “Me” – Year 1
As I carefully examine my progress over the past year, the impact of daily meditation is profound. Its influence has seeped into every corner of my life.

Besides being an overused word to describe such things, journey doesn’t begin to describe the trip I’m experiencing. I’d rather use the word adventure. I’m on a sober adventure. And know this because the twists and turns have presented me with an unexpected opportunity to build myself a rather excellent sobriety toolbox.
The tarot reading truly amazed me. I can’t reconcile the sheer coincidence of the tarot reading with our conversations that evening. Nor can I wrap my head around how closely these cards in this specific order resembled the current state of my sobriety journey as I see it.
So, to recap. I was binge drinking and pot smoking away a conservative $4,200 a year. Then I sobered up. Now I’m taking that $4,200 in sober savings and investing it in my sober investment portfolio. And I already have a few thousand dollars stashed away.
If I’m able to keep this up for 20 years and match the S&P 500 benchmark, I’ll turn $0 into $84,000 and $84,000 into $356,431.15.
While I didn’t grasp it at the time, it turned out that bingeing had infiltrated nearly every aspect of my life. I had become downright gluttonous in most things – eating, drinking, streaming shows, you name it. Of course, I didn’t see it that way. You see, I was under the illusion that I was in control and exercising my own free will as I needlessly frittered my life away.
