1(4) – I broke down and bought a 4-pack of high alcohol content IPA last night. No, I didn’t accidentally buy IPA, but the alcohol %… well, more on that in a minute.
I sipped through them all while listening to Justin Johnson play his signature slide guitar. I particularly like his version of Seven Nation Army and a lot of his Led Zeppelin stuff is really great, too.
But man, I really should have checked the alcohol content (%) of the beer before I bought it. Especially for a guy who’s trying to be mindful of his alcohol consumption! Turns out, these particular IPAs were 8.5% pints. That’s like totally danger zone for me. Worse, as I continue to reduce alcohol content in my life , I find myself becoming quite the lightweight. After four of these bad boys, I was in bed, asleep for the night, at 9:30pm.
I slept okay. I woke up a couple of times with cotton mouth, and gulped down the entire glass of water I had placed on the bed stand. High alcohol content beer can especially dry you out. Dehydration was definitely a factor last night. Good ol’ cotton mouth…
When I woke up, I had a mild headache. At first I was a little concerned, but fortunately, that unpleasantness resolved itself fairly quickly. Other than that, there was no negative impact to my day. No guilty feelings. No bloat, and I’m hangover free, despite the high alcohol content of the beer.
Tonight, my wife and I have plans to socialize with some friends at their house. I am planning to limit myself to 4 beers max. I’m sure I’ll be offered a hit of pot since this house belongs to the gentleman with whom I last smoked at the concert on July 10th. My intention is to politely decline his vape pen when offered. This shouldn’t be too difficult. As I’ve written previously, I have no desire whatsoever to smoke pot. Drinking alcohol, on the other hand, remains alluring, as evidenced in this post.
Once I make it through tonight, my goal is to beat my record of a ‘Sixer’. I would like to achieve a ‘Lucky’. This is essentially being alcohol and pot free for seven consecutive days.
