Tick one zero day off my quest to my first Lucky. The journey of a thousand miles…
Last night was possibly the best night’s sleep I’ve experienced in recent memory. The cooler weather and a much needed adjustment at the chiropractor contributed greatly. But not drinking anywhere near the amount I used to is having an outsized impact on my sleep quality. When I was smoking pot everyday and drinking five or more nights a week, I slept like sh*t most of the time.
I didn’t realize how incredibly exhausted I really was. I had become numb to feeling tired all of the time. I dragged myself out of bed every morning, poured a pot of coffee down my throat, and powered through my day. That was my winning strategy for dealing with extreme sleep deprivation. Then at some point a few months ago, I hit a wall.
Even now, when I have a few beers, there is a noticeable decline in my sleep quality. But I can deal with the occasional rough night’s sleep. It was the every single night that was the killer!
I hate to admit it, but I was tempted to have a few cannabis mints last evening. Thankfully, the urge was fleeting. I’m somewhere around 37 days into my thousand mile cannabis journey. There is no reason whatsoever to get off track now. I don’t want to start over at Go and not collect my $200.
On the other hand, I felt zero desire to drink last night, so that’s an improvement. Previously, I’d need to have a raging hangover and a crappy night of tossing and turning to skip a drinking day. And that sad state of affairs used to happen at least twice a week. That’s typically why I ‘only’ drank five nights. :/
The journey of a thousand miles begins with my getting a Deuce. That’s what I intend to do today.
On to the Day 16.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
