I’m making progress with another low weight mark. Constant flow and pressure. I’ll get there, just gotta keep at it.

I watched football last night with my daughter. She’s so funny. I’m standing in the kitchen and she comes walking in from the garage holding a root beer in one hand and an O’Doul’s in the other.
“Dad, here. It’s the last beer you have,” she says holding out the non-alcoholic lager.
I smiled, “I see you got yourself a beer, too.”
“Beer and football go together,” she laughs.
“Yes, they certainly do,” I respond.
Do Non-Alcoholic Beer & Football Mix?
My daughter certainly thinks so! But before I answer this question, you have to know that the O’Doul’s that was in our garage fridge was at least five years old. Probably older. Potentially a lot older.
A sober friend of mine brought some O’Doul’s over many years ago to watch football. He enjoys drinking non-alcoholic beer and always has some on hand. I’ve tried it before. I thought it tasted fine, but never saw the point. Kinda like decaf coffee. I just never jived with the concept.
I really had no idea what kind of condition this O’Doul’s was in. Especially since there’s no alcohol in it to kill what bacteria would cause it to spoil. I held it up to the light to see if there was any crap floating around in it. Then, I cracked it open, and half believing it was skunked, I slowly, tentatively, took a sip.
You know, it wasn’t bad. Actually, it was okay. It hadn’t skunked at all. In fact it was good enough that I went and bought myself a variety pack of non-alcoholic beers (the one above) to keep on hand for football games and other occasions.
To be honest, that O’Doul’s, old as it was, somehow made watching football feel more complete. It’s weird to write this, but it’s true. I was able to enjoy that beer without feeling the need to have another one (good thing since there wasn’t another one). Oddly, though, not unpredictably, the non-alcoholic beer did cause my sweet tooth to kick in.
My brain was all like, what? Where the alcohol at? Get me a candy bar!
Still, I have to admit, non-alcoholic beer and football do mix. Works for me.
Today, I finished Ordinary Wonder and reviewed my notes. Great book! Very insightful.
