I got out early this morning and undertook a particularly grueling hike. I was so frustrated. How could I have gained back 1.2 pounds after skipping dinner last night? Weight loss has turned into such a long and winding road. And it can be just demoralizing at points!

It appears that I continue to be range bound. But it is what it is. I’ll RAIN through the disappointment. There’s no sense in clinging onto 208 pounds when the irony is that in a few months, I’ll be 10-15 pounds lighter. It’s fruitless to worry about something so impermanent as this.
Long and Winding Road to a New Record
I’m happy to report that I hit my second ‘Dozen’ and I’m within striking distance of my first ‘Baker’s Dozen’. That’s 13 days without any alcohol. And this will be a new record on my sobriety journey.
When I finally reach my first ‘Twice Lucky’ the day after tomorrow, it will coincide with 87 pot free days. That’s just shy of three months! It will also mean I’ve only had 4.5 beers (over two sittings) in 43 days.
I feel that while this is a great deal of progress, there’s still a long and winding road ahead filled with many challenges and temptations. But I can only be present and look forward.
If you make the mistake of looking back too much, you aren’t focused enough on the road in front of you.

I have to share that while it appears that I am able to have just a couple beers in a sitting, Drinkie is a constant nagging presence in the back of my mind. He persists even though Smokie (marijuana’s voice) faded into nothingness months ago. One demon down, one to go…
Tonight we are going to hang out with some friends at their house. One of them is the dude I last smoked weed with 85 days ago. However, it is my intention to turn down both the pot and the drinks since I’m determined to not ruin my marijuana free streak or fail at my first ‘Twice Lucky”. The long and winding road of temptation continues.
