Hello! There’s a new lower low weight in the books! Honestly, I really wasn’t expecting to lose weight given my consumption of sweets, ice cream, onion rings, and beer during my time in the mountains. Fearing that I would gain weight, I committed to intermittent fasting last night. By doing so, I hoped it would allow my body to burn off the extra glycogen and release any resulting bloat. The results were better than expected.

It seems that throwing in some ‘cheat days’ followed by fasting here and there really trick the body into losing weight, especially when a set point becomes especially sticky. Plus, I feel intermittent fasting allows my body to more quickly recover from any excess food and drink I subject it to.
Charitable R.O.S.
While I haven’t written about it recently, I have been working more on the philanthropic portion of Return On Sobriety (R.O.S.). I gave both of the furniture delivery guys each a nice tip today when then dropped off my new patio set and twin mattresses.
I mentioned yesterday that I had left our overworked waitress a nice tip. I’ve also been quite generous at the carwash, giving the attendants tips that match the cost of the carwash (granted I always get the cheapest car wash, but $20 is $20). I also gave the gentleman that cuts my hair an extra big tip. I tell you, it feels great to spread the love around! And they sure seem to appreciate it.
Revisiting Fasting
I just finished rereading The Longevity Paradox by Steven R. Gundry, MD and am almost through a reread of The Four Agreements.
Both of these books have provided me with excellent dietary guidance (the former) and insightful spiritual guidance (the latter).
In the case of The Longevity Paradox, revisiting Gundry’s book has reminded me of the power of intermittent fasting, supplementation, endocrine disruptors, LPS’s, what NOT to eat, and a host of other useful information. I highly recommend it.
I’ve been skipping dinner several nights a week and haven’t really missed it most of the time. In fact, I sleep better and wake more refreshed on the nights I choose to skip dinner. Plus, it’s doing a lot to help me maintain the weight loss gains I’m enjoying.
Okay, now, back to reading The Four Agreements.
