Lots of things to reflect upon today as I reach a series of new milestones.

Milestones All ‘Round
Let’s begin with my first 17’er. This is my longest total sobriety streak yet. Seventeen days of sobriety may not seem like a milestone to some. But within the context of what I’m trying to achieve in redefining my relationship with alcohol, it deserves a little context.
Over the past 30 days (let’s say, a month) I’ve had just 5.5 beers spread across two occasions. That’s an average of 2.75 beers per sitting once every two weeks.
If you consider that four months ago I was not only smoking weed virtually everyday, but also drinking 5 to 9+ beers, 5+ nights a week, this represents significant progress. While my total sobriety record stands at a mere seventeen days, my pot sobriety hit a fresh record today at 129 days. Tomorrow will mark four months.
Sadly, I’d have to go all the way back to high school 32+ years ago to find these kinds of pot and alcohol free stretches.
I also managed to dial in new low weight, BMI, and Fat % milestones. While in aggregate, these are all very exciting, it’s the BMI milestone I’m most excited about. Today, I crossed below the middle point of the ‘overweight’ range for BMI (body mass index), according to the National Institute of Health.
As far as achieving my overall weight loss goal, I’m now getting within striking distance of that. In the past few months, I’ve lost 28 pounds by readopting The Plant Paradox and dramatically reducing my beer and alcohol intake. My BMI has dropped safely out of the ‘Obese’ range (30+) and I’m now with 19 pounds of my ideal weight (183) and BMI (<25).
I am now starting to experience the ‘compounding effect’ I’ve read so much about!!
Looking to extend to eighteen today. The ‘Thrice Lucky’ is just around the bend…
The compounding effects of our habits are what make us and what break us!
