As I enter my third year of daily meditation practice, and the second year of the ReturnOnSobriety blog, I wanted to share some of my favorite meditation videos and mantra music.
Listening to meditation videos and pre-recorded practices were key to the formation of my meditation foundation. And you may find it also works well for you.
In my case, when I started, I made the personal commitment to watch or listen to meditation videos for ten consecutive days. At day eleven, I continued with a renewed commitment to go twenty-one days. Upon arriving at day twenty-two, I recommitted to thirty-one days. Then sixty days. By then, I had established a new habit – one that would forever change the course and trajectory of my life!
While I can’t make you any promises, I do know that for those who stick with daily meditation (regardless if it’s on your own, watching meditation videos, or downloading apps like Calm, Lojong, or Headspace), often experience profound positive change.
The meditation videos and mantras contained here are a selection that encompasses a some of my favorite topics and mantras. If you find yourself attracted to any particular style, I encourage you to explore that style as deeply as possible. Doing this will go a long way toward the establishment of your own practice.
If you’ve visited this blog before, then you know that I came to meditation as a way to deal with a stubborn and concerning substance abuse problem. As I just mentioned, but it’s worth reiterating, meditation quite literally changed my life.
I hope you enjoy this curated list of five meditation videos and mantras. If you’d like to see more of this type of thing, please leave a comment below. I’ll tack those onto the end of this post and we’ll keep the positive vibes flowing!
Om Gam Mantra
Beautiful and enchanting. Malte Marten and Chantress Seba have a way of creating mantras that will transport your meditations to another plane of existence! I often play their mantras during my group meditation sessions in addition to enjoying their mantras on my own.
I’m listening to this one right now as I put this meditation videos and mantras post together! I’ve found these mantras to be great for focus and they regularly make up the soundtrack of my workdays.
Namaste.
AM AMPlify Meditation Videos Channel
This is a newer meditation videos channel. I stumbled across it when I was searching for some meditations on increasing focus. This gentleman is low tech, but I find what he talks about and the meditations he leads to be both engaging and relaxing. He’s also got an interesting background for a meditation and mindfulness guy. I’m sure there’s an interesting story there. I look forward to seeing what he does with this channel.
Strength & Grounding In Stressful Times Meditation
Let’s face it, these be stressful times! This short 15 minute meditation (yes, if you stick with it long enough, 15 minute meditations begin to feel quite short) is an excellent, well shot, and beautifully guided exploration of working through the sometimes difficult emotions of dealing with life in the modern age.
The channel has a wide and comprehensive selection of excellent guided meditations.
“To feel, to be, remember you are safe.”
432 Hz – The Sounds of the Tibetan Flute
I enjoy listening to Tibetan music, particularly flute, while meditating. I find its sound and tone both relaxing and exotic. This style of music has the tendency to sweep me away to distance places and times long ago. The imagery used in this video is simply gorgeous. When I play Tibetan flute with my groups, participants often describe the feeling of flying through the air over vast canyons, oceans, and estuaries. Give it a listen and see where it takes you!
Surrendering & Letting Go Meditation Video
How could you not at least try a meditation with someone who calls himself The Anxiety Guy? Once I did, I was hooked! The Anxiety Guy is the real deal. He has loads of great guided meditations on his channel, but this one is one of my favorites. He also has a podcast if you’d prefer that over the videos with the potential for YouTube commercial interruptions. Links to his other media are in the description of this video along with a comprehensive list of meditation benefits.
As I mentioned in the introduction, leave your suggestions and requests below, and I’ll keep adding meditations and mantras to this page!
