Day 107 – New Milestones Abound!
If you consider that four months ago I was not only smoking weed virtually everyday, but also drinking 5 to 9+ beers, 5+ nights a week, this is a lot of progress.
A human with a simple mission: explore how meditation can rewire the brain and rebuild the body. Can mindfulness meditation mitigate addiction? Do meditation and mindfulness ultimately free us from mind altering substances and other harmful vices such as overeating? What about other destructive habits and negative thought patterns? Dominic started ReturnonSobriety with the goal of exploring all of the various benefits (returns) that may be derived from a contemplative and sober life.

. I needed to reframe my relationship with alcohol. But I wasn’t yet sure what that meant. Was that full abstinence? Did I need to start attending AA meetings? Did I need to seek out professional help? Or would I be able to simply drink more responsibly with mindfulness and intention?
There is no doubt that this episode has been and continues to be the toughest weight loss slog of my life. But, while slow, it is steadily moving in the right direction. And that would be DOWN.
Then the smell of weed and stale bong water hit me in my nose with the force of Mike Tyson’s fist.
Having survived the gauntlet of the dual threat of cold beer in the fridge and pot smoke filling my house, I feel like I’m up for any challenge!
