Day 2 – Fighting to be Alcohol Free
Despite the meditation taking the edge off, I needed a distraction. Something to think about other than drinking. Looking around the family room, I saw our long neglected Wii sitting off to the side of the tv.
A human with a simple mission: explore how meditation can rewire the brain and rebuild the body. Can mindfulness meditation mitigate addiction? Do meditation and mindfulness ultimately free us from mind altering substances and other harmful vices such as overeating? What about other destructive habits and negative thought patterns? Dominic started ReturnonSobriety with the goal of exploring all of the various benefits (returns) that may be derived from a contemplative and sober life.

“At least she didn’t ask me to pick up any beer,” I thought to myself as I grabbed the car keys and drove the 1.5 pine wooded miles to the store. Five minutes later, I shifted the car into park and headed in. I was a man on a mission.
I’ve been questioning the increasingly slippery slope of my use disorder and considering a path toward sobriety for years now.
