Let me begin by saying that I’m not suggesting those with drinking problems run out to the candy aisle and binge on sugar until they’ve given themselves diabetes. You should never change your diet without the advice of a dietician or your doctor (okay, now that my lawyers feel better, let’s continue).
What can I say, sobriety makes for a busy life! One that benefits tremendously from the compounding effects of patience, focus, and persistence. Because as sobriety opens up life, there’s so much great stuff to accomplish!
Dumping a mostly full, ice cold beer down the drain is something I’ve never done in my life. Six months ago, doing something like that was sacrilege!
It is worth noting that while alcohol remains a pernicious influence, meditation is helping me grapple with it. While my sobriety record is far from perfect, meditation has resulted in a marked reduction in my alcohol consumption.
