Day 68 – Gratifying Deeds Done Drink Free
Her ex has a major drinking problem and recently wrapped his truck around a tree while driving drunk. Fortunately, he’s okay, but the truck is totaled and his license suspended.

Just as there is no single way to make brownies, there is no single recipe for getting sober. I wish there were. That would make things a hell of a lot easier for everyone involved. But, unfortunately, it just isn’t so.
The challenge for me in staying sober is revealing itself as a ‘time of day’ thing. In other words, I’m most inclined to drink alcoholic beverages between 4pm and 8pm. I’m finding that if I can survive this window, I’ll have a successful outcome.
It’s more punishment than I expected, but no less than I deserved. There’s a lesson here that I obviously needed to learn at this point in my sobriety journey. And it’s this: A single night of drinking erases two weeks of hard earned weight loss.
But, thankfully, I made it through in one piece and found that Dry January, like Sober October, and Dry July have much to teach us. And this would hold true for any dry month you might choose to pursue. It’s important to point out, that if you need an excuse to dry out and give your brain and liver a break, there’s no need to wait for a designated ‘dry’ month!

Only snow,
Falling incessantly”
