Day 89 – I Love Raining on Alcohol Addiction
I’ve hit 150 days of consecutive mindfulness meditation that has at once helped me to personally overcome marijuana dependence and reduce my alcohol intake substantially by RAINing on my addiction.
I’ve hit 150 days of consecutive mindfulness meditation that has at once helped me to personally overcome marijuana dependence and reduce my alcohol intake substantially by RAINing on my addiction.
One of the first things I noticed after I drastically cut my alcohol intake was an overall improvement in both the quality and quantity of my sleep. Within a few weeks of quitting pot, I was once again enjoying vivid dreams. Today I am better rested and happier as a result and I believe this new mindset contributes powerfully to my sober lifestyle. So how can you sleep better?
I mean, who doesn’t enjoy an ice cold brewsky on a 100 degree + broiler of a day? Especially when beer seems to literally be at every turn! Yet, there and then I confronted and stared down temptation once more. Me two, beer zero.
Thus, while religion and adherence to it varies widely from person to person and place to place, the ‘god’ the unites us all is money, or more accurately, our collective faith in it. It’s the story you’ve been told all your life: money = happiness, money = freedom, money = everything.
The challenge for me in staying sober is revealing itself as a ‘time of day’ thing. In other words, I’m most inclined to drink alcoholic beverages between 4pm and 8pm. I’m finding that if I can survive this window, I’ll have a successful outcome.
