Day 104 – I Love The Smell of Pot Smoke
Having survived the gauntlet of the dual threat of cold beer in the fridge and pot smoke filling my house, I feel like I’m up for any challenge!

I’ve found the R.A.I.N. technique to be quite helpful in identifying and releasing negative looping thoughts. Releasing our negativity into the vast ocean is liberating. With fewer negative thoughts to suppress, I feel less and less a need to self medicate with alcohol and marijuana. The less I self medicate, the better I feel, the less I self medicate. Win, win, win.
In becoming more mindful, your goal is create space so you can more objectively view your thought parade, better understand how it is affecting you physically, spiritually, and emotionally. You are now free to make better decisions having disengaged your autopilot.
When we work to accept impermanence we begin to realize that the past is already gone and the future is not guaranteed. So we stop giving the past and the the future so much of our attention. We stop living there. We embrace the present and savior it precious fleeting nectar.
But, thankfully, I made it through in one piece and found that Dry January, like Sober October, and Dry July have much to teach us. And this would hold true for any dry month you might choose to pursue. It’s important to point out, that if you need an excuse to dry out and give your brain and liver a break, there’s no need to wait for a designated ‘dry’ month!

Only snow,
Falling incessantly”
