What is SOBER Meditation?
SOBER Meditation helps us to create space between external stimuli and our own internal reaction to said stimuli. It’s in this space we gain perspective and can therefore make better choices.

Enter meditation & RAIN. I started daily meditation practice exactly 157 days ago (as of the publication of this blog). And it’s been quite a journey. At day 35, I completely stopped smoking pot after being a near daily smoker for over two decades. By day 90 I had gone from drinking 5 nights a week to twice a month, and drinking half as much in a sitting (from 7-10 beers to 2-4). By day 140, I had lost 26 pounds.
Last night I had a strange and somewhat disturbing experience. While applying rubbing alcohol to a pimple on the back of my neck, for a fleeting instant, I actually considered tasting it. Immediately, my rational mind rode to the rescue and prevented me from going through with it. I mean, shit, I’m not Kitty Dukakis for crying out loud!
I have to admit, quite embarrassingly, that during the hundreds of nights we spent in the mountains playing for hours on end, I was binge drinking myself stupid. So much of the creativity and character development came as a result of me drinking beer the entire time. And it worked, because once I was a few beers deep, I completely let go and became a child again myself.
Today marks 120 straight, uninterrupted days of meditation. If a meditation marathon is 24 consecutive days, this is like running five marathons! For me, this is monumental.

Only snow,
Falling incessantly”
