Then the smell of weed and stale bong water hit me in my nose with the force of Mike Tyson’s fist.
You could say that between the exhaustion, weight gain, and increasing frequency of negative thinking, I had become sober curious. Should I go to AA like my brother, sister-in-law, and a good buddy of mine? Did I need that kind of help? I was certainly open to the idea. Especially since I had noticed a new drinking motivation arising: drinking to relieve hangovers.
“Yeah, I know, but…” I rewound the video, watched it again, and then the message sank in. That’s precisely what I was/am trying to do. That’s what so many of us are trying to do. We are stuck. Bogged down by our own baggage, all that crap we’ve accumulated and carry with us all our lives.
According to the National Endowment for Financial Education, 70% of lottery winners or people who receive large windfalls end up broke in a few short years. This generally takes less than five years on average. 30% will declare bankruptcy aka – go broke.
