Here we go again! My damn scale is the honesty master! I’m two pounds up, two pounds down. My weight is bouncing up and down and all around. It’s like follow the bouncing friggin’ ball!
Having survived the gauntlet of the dual threat of cold beer in the fridge and pot smoke filling my house, I feel like I’m up for any challenge!
Our V.P. of Sales Operations joked, “It’s five o’clock somewhere!” (It was 11am for Tim and me). Another V.P. joked that he’d hold our boss responsible if he couldn’t make it through the rest of his afternoon meetings as he sipped on what appeared to be a neat whiskey.
Firstly, self care is not selfish. Consider this: how can you reasonably take care of others who depend on you if you can’t/don’t take care of yourself? The answer is, you can’t. Not for long anyway before everything starts to fall apart.
Instead of euphoria, I found a spiraling use disorder. Covid 19 lockdowns added fuel to the fire. What had been a daily pot and a few times a week alcohol habit, became a nearly daily binge of both. I only took days off if the brutality of the hangover demanded it.
