I mean, I have plenty of whiskey, vodka, tequila, gin, and other fine spirit on hand. Bottles and bottles and bottles of it. And there’s almost always an open bottle of Pinot Noir or Cabernet on the kitchen counter. But these lures hold no temptation for me.
I’ve written about this whole sugar and ‘addiction transfer’ problem previously. For the past several weeks, it’s been a pretty big crutch for me. As I’ve mentioned in prior posts, I never considered sugar swapping to be a long term solution.
What these meditation experiences have impressed upon me is the power of the mind to heal itself through its ability to create powerful visualizations. Through these we are able to make peace with all kinds of things we didn’t even realize we were still dealing with.
But, thankfully, I made it through in one piece and found that Dry January, like Sober October, and Dry July have much to teach us. And this would hold true for any dry month you might choose to pursue. It’s important to point out, that if you need an excuse to dry out and give your brain and liver a break, there’s no need to wait for a designated ‘dry’ month!
