My inclination to drink beer is diminishing. It is not completely eradicated like marijuana, but the desire to not drink is gaining power over the once ever present desire to drink.
“Sober October?” I reflected. I had never heard the term, but somehow I felt myself drawn to it. By this point in the pandemic I was drinking like a fish nearly every night and a break from alcohol seemed alluring.
Occupying your mind (and hands) with something other than your addiction is of prime importance in early recovery and beyond. And while I’ve adopted and grown to love several sober hobbies (journaling, guitar, gardening, exercise, etc), none has grabbed my attention quite as much as Numismatics.
A few weeks into my sobriety journey, I noticed I was starting to save money and a lot more than I expected.
What can I say, sobriety makes for a busy life! One that benefits tremendously from the compounding effects of patience, focus, and persistence. Because as sobriety opens up life, there’s so much great stuff to accomplish!
